Little Owl
Spud is our only Little Owl, and she is very grumpy (as most Little Owls are!). Named because she looked like a potato as a chick.

Siberian Eagle Owl
Our gentle giant. Because of his natural habitat, he is extremely fluffy to survive freezing conditions. Ivan is a breathtaking sight during our Owl Encounters.

Great Grey Owl
Earl is one of our Great Grey Owl, and is the SMJ post boy after being raised on social media in 2025, many people visit us to meet Earl and he has been a fantastic addition to team SMJ.

Eurasian Eagle Owl
Heidi is a rescue Owl, she unfortunately was abandoned by her previous owner and got hit by a car in Leeds. Thankfully she was fine and amazes people on experiences with her size and voice!

Burrowing Owl
Tyke is one of the loudest birds at SMJ, despite being one of the smallest! He is great fun on experiences, displays and school visits!

MacKinder's Eagle Owl
Candy is a big character, slow to start during her flying sessions, but a really beautiful Owl! She even does some of our ring deliveries at weddings!

Bengal Eagle Owl
Bracken is one Sandra's favourite owls, he has now been working with Will to get flying on experience days. He has made great progress and hopefully will be part of our Owl Encounters team very soon!

Tawny Owl
Fluffy is our Tawny Owl, and is actually a rescue owl. She has always been very shy but the last year Will and Steven have both but in lots of hours with her and she has become a fantastic birds for free flying.

Barn Owl
JD is another rescue from not being cared for properly, he is a very tricky bird to work with, but when he wants too, he can be brilliant! He just has to do things HIS way.

A cheeky, hand-raised chap who came to us because he wouldn't stop screaming at people! He now flies free around the farm most mornings.

Harris's Hawk
Peter is one of our main hawk walk Harris Hawks. He is named after Sandra's Father, Peter has turned into a key part of our team providing amazing flight experiences from our centre in Oxenhope. He really knows his job and is lovely to watch flying.

Harris's Hawk
Henry is a very cheeky Harris's Hawk, he is a bit of a show off and loves to fly around the farm and show off his flying skills. He is a very popular bird on our hawk walks and experience days.

Lootah
Red-Tailed Hawk
Lootah is our Red-Tailed Hawk. Unfortunately over the last few years he has suffered several health issues, having one of his toes amputated, a further infection on the joint. and then a suspected heart attack. Thankfully in 2026 he seems to be doing much better and is now free flying on experience days.

Gyr Falcon
Hoggle is our Gyr Falcon. Gyr's are the largest of the falcon species. They are incredibly powerful fliers. Hoggle was part of a breeding project, however we decided to not breed anymore birds and Hoggle then learnt to use his wings properly instead, and has't looked back since!

Peregrine Falcon
Eric is our Peregrine Falcon. Peregrine Falcons are known for their incredible speed and hunting prowess. Eric is an amazing demonstration bird and regularly goes up to 500-1000feet before stooping (diving) back for his dinner.

Fandango
Gyr falcon x Peregrine Falcon
Fandango is our Gyr falcon x Peregrine Falcon. This hybrid brings the size of the Gyr to the Speed of the Peregrine, making an incredibly fast and powerful falcon. Fandango was bred by Chris when he worked in Wales, he was part of the Northumberland Crow Falcon team. After a few years he retired and Chris arranged for him to join SMJ.

Kestrel
Tiffin is our Kestrel, he's a rescue Kestrel that was unfortunately being kept in a budgie cage. Thankfully after lots of TLC he has become an amazing bird for all aspects of SMJ. Unfortunately however he is VERY cheeky. He won our Naughtiest bird of the year!

American Kestrel
Diego is our American Kestrel. He is incredibly beautiful little falcon. Brother to Dottie, they both got crowned the Chaos Duo. Being siblings however they have fallen out and are flown seperately now. Diego Won bird of the year after he rescued his sister from a wild European Kestrel!

American Kestrel
Dottie is a Female American Kestrel, Sister to Diego! However these two have been split up after a large falling out, for their own safety they now live, and fly seperately. Dottie is very friendly and loves flying to anyone, and everyone!

Red Kite
Willow is our Red Kite, we've had her since she was just 4 weeks old and has been travelling around with us ever since. She is a very beautiful bird and is a firm favourite with visitors. Willow is Chris's favourite bird and takes part in most demonstrations and experience days.

Black Kite
Leon is our Black Kite, he's named Leon as Chris and Vicki got stuck behind a Seat Leon for 6 hours in a big traffic jam whilst collecting Leon at 4 weeks old. He's fairly nervous but has been doing very well on experience days in 2026!

Hooded Vulture
Julianne is our Hooded Vulture. She came from an amazing facility built for vultures in Wales. Vultures are very misunderstood creatures and she has helped to raise money for vulture charities by changing peoples opinions on how amazing vultures really are!

Millie is incredibly intelligent bird! Ravens have one of the largest brains in the bird world! Millie has many many toys that have been donated and is a big star for our social media.
